Description
Lovely Antique French Fashion Doll Jumeau Closed MouthPale, creamy bisque socket head on a bisque, kid lined, shoulder plate. Facial features are very delicate and her expression makes me think of refined contentment. Dreamy, inset blue glass paperweight eyes with a darker outer rim. Her eyes also have a light outline for emphasis and it appears to be the same color as her eyebrows.
Delicately painted lashes and feathered brows.
Closed mouth with pale accented lips. Rosy, blush to cheeks. Pierced ears with right earring wire present.
Pate and wig present and wig attached to pate but in "bed head" condition. I do not know if it is human hair or otherwise. Small blue ribbon in wig.
The only marking is the 4 at the base of her neck. I have found other dolls with similar marking attributed to Jumeau and believe she is as well due to her refined look.
Measurements:
17 inches top to toe (without wig and pate)
7 inches head circumference
4&3/4 inch shoulder plate
Gusseted kid body.
Imperfections
: The major issue is her Right hand is completely severed at the wrist. It is present and can be repaired. There is a ribbon tied around her upper right arm. I haven't removed it but assume there must be some damage under the ribbon that it is protecting.
There is a tear in the kid at her back shoulder plate where someone has pealed it away I assume looking for a marking on the shoulder plate.
There are three other areas on the kid body that are pulled/torn: Outer left knee at the seam, tear in kid at left outer hip, pull at seam on back upper left hip.
The first two areas are visible in the photos but I ran out of photo space so the back, upper hip where the seam is pulled isn't visible in photos. I am happy to send a picture if you send a question requesting it.
Her head may swivel, but if it does, it doesn't do it easily and I haven't been forceful, so cannot attest to the swivel.
She has been boxed in air conditioned home free of smoke, pets, odors for at least 30 years. I do not know where my Mother purchased her. She used to be active in the doll circuit in the 70's and 80's and traveled around the US and to Paris to purchase dolls, fabrics, antique lace and trims, buttons, etc. I have been liquidating her collection for over ten years and only have a couple left. I have held on to this doll all these years because she is so pretty, but since I do not have the skill to repair her hand nor an outfit to dress her, it seems right to send her along to a new home where one can showcase her beauty.
She will be carefully packed and sent either Fedex or UPS signature required only within the 48 contiguous states. No international shippin
