    Description

    RARE 1898 original real photo type stereoview captioned on front. No. 10 Hope School, Springfield, D. T. (stands for Dakota Territory which became South Dakota). Published and photograph by W. R. Cross, Hot Springs, SD. Caption reads the same on both ends; no other captions on back. Hope School was a school for Indian children which existed from 1895 to 1902 when the name was changed to Springfield School in 1902. It was abolished in 1923. Images are somewhat faded as you can see. Shows a male and female teacher.Kids of all ages dressed in "American" clothing..not their native clothing. Card is in excellent condition with no creases, tears, odor. No scratches on the images. Mailed with cardboard backing.
