Description

1958 Les Paul Special Body/Neck Project
Please read this carefully and study the pictures. This is 1958 Gibson Les Paul Special body/neck with the small headstock and bound neck. Comes with non-original repro pickguard, cavity covers, tuners, uncompensated bridge, and strap buttons, and a poor condition 70’s Gibson case. It is playable as is, but assume action work may be needed. One of the pictures shows the guitar fully assembled. This listing does NOT include electronics. Sold ‘As-is’. Here are the issues/mods I am aware of:
1) Head stock repair - you can’t see it, but it’s there
2)
Neck reset
3) Logo inlay repair on the tail of the ‘N’. A ‘Les Paul Special’ non-original decal was part of the refin.
4) The body wood had been repaired in a few places with mahogany pieces, and a maple cap or veneer was added. So if you think you’d like to do a mahogany woodgrain finish I wouldn’t buy this.
5) Pickup routs – had been modified to accommodate humbuckers, then filled and re-routed for p-90s
6) Lacquer on the back, neck and sides - a decent refin (solid color, not see-thru TV finish). On the front of the body it crackled.
7) Headstock was refinished.
8) Serial number finished over
9) Frets appear to be non-original, re-crowned, with plenty of life left
10) No neck bowing or truss rod issues
