AUTHENTICAST HISTORY:
In the 1930’s Comet Metal Products Inc developed a centrifugal spin casting process they called “Authenticast” which allowed them to make miniatures from a zink, lead, tin alloy that had greater detail.
In the 1940s Comet began making figures, cars, trucks.
During World War II, the military used Authenticast 1:1200 waterline ships, HO scale Tanks (said to be 1/108 scale) and small airplane models for spotter training purposes.
After the war Comet reactivated their figure and automobile lines, and sold the military models as toys.
In addition they produced some HO scale metal railroad cars into the early 1960’s.
