Antique 12" French Bebe CM shoulder head doll

Description

This is a French child doll on her original chunky gusseted French leather body. She has a perfect bisque head with multi-stroke eyebrows, set brown glass eyes with tiny lashes painted all around and a sweet painted closed mouth with a dark parting line. Her complexion is pale indicating an early doll (ca. 1880-1890). There is a repair on the right shoulder plate, I'm not sure how extensive and it doesn't show. She is unmarked as are many French dolls.
This dolls body is great. It's clean, there are no patches and no split seams. The yoke has been restored. She has leather feet and beautiful porcelain long narrow hands with blushed backs and outlined nails. This type of hand is sometimes found on French fashion dolls. Her undamaged arms are wired and hold a slight bend.
Her clothing has been replaced using antique and old fabrics. Her fully lined dress and matching hat are silk. Her head is stuffed with paper so the eyes can never fall out. She has a replaced pressed styrofoam pate and her mohair wig is simply pinned to the pate. This is a beautiful doll of exceptional design and quality.
