Antique 20" French perfect bisque socket head doll, original body

Description

French dolls continue to be a good investment for collectors. The French Limoges dolls are some of the few that are still within reach of the average collector. This doll is marked on the back of her perfect head: LIMOGES, FRANCE, 9. This charming doll has a beautiful smooth pale complexion, large set blue glass eyes with black eye liner and lush painted lashes. She has an open mouth with four teeth and pierced ears with earrings. She's on her original composition and wood body that's well strung and it it's original finish.
She wears French style replaced clothing. Her underwear consists of a chemise, pantaloons and a half slip. Her pink dress is decorated with rare and unique trim and her jacket and matching hat are made from antique satin brocade. Her head is stuffed with tissue paper so that her eyes can never fall out and her replaced wig is pinned to the pressed styrofoam pate. This doll is a work of art and displays beautifully.
