Description
Antique French Bisque MyStErY Character Child doll in near org condition. She is 18 IN tall and has a bisque head that is free of damage and repair. Marked on with a an odd eye shaped incised white mark at the base of her crown. I'd say she has the look of a Verlingue doll, but then again, her Steiner body throws me off. Circa 1915, the maker remains a mystery although the doll was likely inspired by the French artist doll movement of the post-WWI era which presented dolls such as those of Marque, Van Rozen, and Poulbot. Org. brown mohair wig with a side part. It's a nice, full wig with lots of curls. Org. thick French cork pate. Dark, feathered brows and both upper and lower painted lashes. She also some somewhat "weathered" brows. She has an open/closed mouth with a tiny white space between her lips. Her chin is shaped more to a point than typical bebe girls. The org. body retains the org. finish. There are a few hairlines to her fingers (see pics, not broken). The left side has an org. French Steiner paper label. STRAIGHT WRISTS. She's wearing a fabulous and print floral dress that appears to be org. to her and also has a matching hat. Both are in good condition. Under her dress is an antique full slip, antique bloomers, and antique green stockings and French leather shoes that could also be org. to her. She's a wonderful character and you won't find too many around.
