Antique Gorgeous 18" PARIS Doll by Henri Delcroix

Description

This beautiful and hard-to-find French doll was made by the firm of Henri Delcroix who marked his dolls in at least 4 ways--PAN, GD, HD and X, while some were marked PARIS like this doll.  All have the same wide-eyed look.  This one measures about 18" tall and has a perfect bisque head with blue paperweight eyes, beautiful blushing, feathered eyebrows and shaded nostrils.  Her closed mouth has been described as whimsical.  She is on her original French body in good condition.
She wears an antique costume that could very well be original.  It consists of a skirt of thin gauze decorated with burgundy dots, and over that a jacket that was originally burgundy velvet that has turned to a rust color over time.  It is trimmed with lace and comes to 6 little points at the bottom, 4 of which are decorated with metal buttons.  The gathered plastron matches the skirt.  Underneath are 2 antique full slips and newer pantaloons.  Her socks are antique French and her shoes are very good reproductions.  Her wig is newer and just matches her jacket, and she has her original cork pate.  Topped off by a little straw hat.
She is truly a delight.
