Antique clay confit pot with two handles with a Straw  straw glaze from the Provence region of France – c. 1900. Original. Vernacular. This is to note it is an authentic confit pot in good condition.

The upper end of its clay body and handles were sealed in a yellowish straw glaze while its bottom end is simply fired clay or "dry".
It was crafted by a country artisan potter for functional, practical purposes and is representative of the traditional skills and practices peculiar to parts of southwestern France. A confit pot as such was
a kitchen storage vessel chiefly used to preserve cooked meats and fats within a cool habitat over extended periods of time. A confit pot could be buried in the ground up to its glaze or simply stored in a cool, typically stone-lined, interior space.
There are similar pottery objects on the market. However, this one is distinguished from a great many others since this one is an actual antique confit pot from Provence; a collectors' choice.

Condition:
Antque French glazed pottery confit pot in good condition. Original. Its clay body is intact and structurally sound with evident wear. Its straw color glaze is stable. It has oxidized, which testifies to its age.
