Cast Iron Butte Montana Hotel -Stairway -Fire Exit Sign -  Sign Reads as follows: Notice Anyone Placing an Incumbrance On this Balcony or Stairway will be fined Ten Dollars Or The Objects Forming Such Incumbrance Will be Confiscated.  This sign was reported to be located in either the 1884 St. Nicholas Hotel in Butte, Montana or its Predecessor the Butte Hotel. both were located on East Broadway in Butte Montana. There is no accompanying documentation and research I conducted was non-conclusive if this sign was indeed as reported. There are a few articles that I found in a google search that pointed to the signs being placed in New York and New Jersey and the articles dated the sign around turn of the 20th century. That being said, It is a really great cast sign and the fact the letter seem to run together make it very unique. this would look great in any fire department -firefighter collection or for that matter in any man-cave or garage.
The sign weighs in at 3 lbs and is 12.25".
