Description
Incredible 1850s glass stereoview photo of a daguerreotype camera and a shelf filled with labeled chemical bottles all used in the development of daguerreotypes. The daguerreotype camera rests on the floor in the foreground with a glass beaker on top. A Brewster stereoscope can be seen on the right side of the bottom shelf. The labels on the chemical bottles read (starting from the second shelf down, left to right), "Ammonia", "Ferri Sulphur", "Ether: Sulphur", "Sodium Ge---", "Salt", "Varnish", "-oll----", Alcohol, and "Potassh Cy---" (probably Potassium Cyanide). The large bottle at the bottom center is labeled "Acid: Nitric." The bottle at the lower right reads, "--id: Acet---" (probably Acid: Acetone). I am uncertain what is immersed in the jar on the top shelf. No photographer information. This came out of an old estate in southeast Pennsylvania along with several Langenheim glass stereoviews which I recently sold.* CONDITION: Very Good++
* SIZE: Measures approximately 3 1/4 x 6 3/4 inches.
