    Description

I must tell you that it was a pleasure looking at this glaze color as I took photos. Stunning, mixture of emerald, sea and bright Castelnaudary green only found in saintOnge pottery. It is only found in saintOnge because they don't use a transparent undercoat. This was the first piece that grabbed me ad I started this long path. A collector must have the set of 4 sizes and this form that was only made in the saintOnge area until about 1850.
They actually have a primitive form of the plongeon which was also created, at first, in the stOnge area as was the conscience.. These tall 'tout droit bottles filled with walnut oil were used for transport along the coast of France and England. Normandy was the main destination and it is interesting to note the big mystery amongst 'Terre Vernisseeé experts...why are so many of the poteries made almost in the same. Did this route of delivery somehow have something to do with the mystery"
This piece is wonderful. Classic all the way. The green glaze against the white clay of the region has always attracted collectors and again, the one of a kind tall straight form cannot be found elsewhere. This piece has wear and tear with lno chips and almost no glaze loss against the end of the spout. It is in perfect condition which is unreal for an end of the 18thc - debut of the 19th C.. The very edge of the spout has a rim that flares out and always is a wonderful addition of the potter because of its fragile position. The height stands at 15.5 inches which out of a set of 8,10,12 and 15 inches is the classic set of 4. There is one more size that is like a giant vessel at 20 inches! I've only seen one (which is mine :) since 1995. I have to tell you that this glaze color which is my favorite green is hard to describe, Bright emerald mixed with sea green and the green that you find in Castelnaudary. This is the region of Merlin and the roundtable. A mysterious magical green seems appropriate for this region that is my favorite in France. BEING VERY TALL AND FRAGILE UPS THE PRICE OF UPS AND YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT. I ALSO HAVE THEM PACK AT THE SHOP WHICH ADDS COST. PENNYWISE...
    15.5 inches.
