This coin type is minted after the example of the Hungarian since about 1325
minted ducats. The reverse shows Saint Ladislaus, King of Hungary
from 1075 to 1095. The reason was the popularity of this coin type in Eastern European countries
    Nations.
West Friesland minted this coin type in the period 1587-1605.
From 1606 West Friesland followed the regulations of the 1606 mint placard,
which was to bring about unity in coinage in the generality countries.
There was no longer any room for the Hungarian ducat within it and therefore
from 1606 only gold ducats of the Dutch type were minted.
