Mid 50's Bamberger Hofbrau Gray Glazed 1 Liter Beer Stein. No fancy Bavarian beer steins here, this is a gray glazed beer stein that's very heavy and holds 1 liter of your favorite brew, the real deal. There is a 1L underlined marking on the side that was stamped in when the clay was wet. the blue writing has been fired into it also. The handle was applied and possibly shaped by hand. The clay has flakes of black in it ( coal ? ) but is definitely not dirty. Just the way the clay was is my guess. The lip looks as though it has a chip but is just a manufacturing defect and is glazed over. The side has one very small nick in the glaze but that is it. There is no writing on the bottom. Comes from a smoke free home.
