RARE Antique Hopi / Katsina Solid Wood Koyala / Koshara Clown

Description

This is an older Katsina/Kachina made in the early 1900's. The fact that this is a solid piece of wood that has been carved is special.  This piece is a Koyala / Koshare Clown, which is often carved as a doll, also.  The white paint with black stripes around it is a typical manner in which clowns are depicted.  They also have two posts of hair projecting from the top of the head that are bound with corn husks at the top.  The two on this Koyala / Koshare Clown have been broken off there are just remnants of the hair pieces.
