    Description

SUPER MID 20TH C HOTOTO BADGER KACHINA, HAND CARVED COTTONWOOD ROOT, PAINTS, EXCELLENT CONDITION
Beautiful paint decoration.  This is an older type that had a plug inserted at top of head and hung by twine, although it does stand on its own sitting slightly forward.  He probably had a feather headdress and held feathers, but they are probably long gone.
There are two very distinct forms of the Badger Kachina.  The HOTOTO KACHINA is the Badger seen on Second Mesa.
He is a Chief Kachina who appears during the Powamu and Pachavu ceremonies. He is a curing Kachina.  In fact, the Badger Kachina is considered to be the greatest doctor of them all because of his knowledge of administering the herbs and roots.
Fresh to the marketplace.  Measures approximately 9.75” H.
Everything guaranteed as stated.  Shipping includes full insurance. Please check out my many other quality auctions. Ask questions if you have them. Thank you!
