Hold onto your hats, you're going for a ride......Authentic Tete Jumeau 24" doll. Stamped on center of back: Jumeau, Medaille D'Or, Paris. She has the number 11 incised on the back of her neck. Socket head with original pate; sleep eyes with human hair lashes, some of them are gone; painted lower lashes, blue paperweight eyes; feathered brows; great face, open mouth with 4 teeth; jointed at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees. Right hand is all original, but the left hand has had some repairs, but still looks good. Definite belly button, and finely detailed toes. Typical Jumeau composition body. Her head is excellent! No hairlines or cracks/flaking that I can see. But her body has taken a beating with lots of flaking and chipping especially around the joints. This doll was very well loved. Her wig, shoes and clothing are replacements, but the ensemble looks very good on her. Her dress is very pale blue silk with lots of antique lace and gathers, full sleeves and a wide cape like collar. NO stains, tears, or odors! These old French dolls are getting harder and harder to find. Most of the dolls in this category are reproductions, but this one is the original. I am including her wig and outfit, which is quite nice and appropriate. She has an especially beautiful face, so different from the German bisque dolls. The bisque has a creamy look to it with lots of cheek and lip color. This doll was made around 1895. With a little judicious patching, this doll will be spectacular!
