This
Fender
Stratocasteris an October 1958 serial number 29915 and was bought for me by a friend in a pawn shop in Seattle in 1971. Fender made 3 different necks that year for a Stratocaster and this is the rarest of those three. The neck alone is worth 15k. I bought this guitar when I was 15 years old and knew nothing about the collectible
details
of guitars. The guitar was spray painted white and had amp corner dent marks in the body. The pole pieces on the pickup where out of phase to produce a rebound effect after a chord was hit. The nut was also cut for a lefthanded guitarist. I don't know anyone who would do that to a guitar like this except Jimi Hendrix. It’s too late to find out if this was one of his guitars. I had it painted by the same guy who painted many
of his
guitars on 46
th
street store in Manhatten in 1971. If anyone can ID the artist who painted this please come forward. A friend
of mine I
use to jam with
and
was good friends with a guy named Rich Russo who's father owned Rhodes Musical Instruments store in 5949-58 drive

ueens N.Y. Rich Russo was a bass player. He and Jimi Hendrix used to jam in the basement of the store. Jimi used to come in to the store buy a bunch of guitars and give them away to friends. Rich knew all ofJimmy’s contacts and hung out with them. He
knew the Jimi’s artist and took it to him for the paint job
.
This guitar is mulit-colored and finished in Mother of Pearl. It changes color under different colored lights.
It took him 45 days and I was complaining to Rich where's my guitar. I thought I was never going to see it again. So he went down there to check up on it. The cat said he finished it two weeks ago and had it hanging in the window. He said it pulled a full house in the store while it was hanging and he didn't want to part with it
as it brought in a lot of business
. He said no one gave him a 58 Strat before and said to paint it, as youlike. He had this idea for what he wanted to paint his own guitar
but did it on mine. He felt
s
ad to part with it as it was a real work of pop art and is an art timepeace. I also installed medium size frets at the Guitar Lab the same day Claptons Layla Strat was being done. Same job as mine, MiniSchaller tuning pegs, a new bridge, brass nut, 5 way switch and a second string tree as I use the tremelo in my playing. The pickups,
neck, body, serial number plate
and case are all original and has a one of kind old Strat sound.
The original tweed case is a worn and showing it’s age. This is a players Custom guitar. Johnny Winter and Peter Haycock have played this guitar. I have owned this guitar for 48 years and it’s time to part with it. The guitar is sold in as is condition with no returns. I prefer local pickup as insurance would be to expensive with the possibility of no pay out.
