Vintage 1997 Gibson "L-4CES"
A rare bird in fantastic shape!  VCP is very happy to offer this killer L-4CES from an exceptionally great era of Gibson guitars and the Gibson Custom Shop - the late 90's were a fantastic time for Gibson, both from a craftsmanship standpoint as well as the wood-selection.  Great woods in the late 90's!
With a single cutaway, and ornate art-deco appointments, the L-4 has been a classic since it's initial inception decades ago.    With the dimensions of an ES-175, some may be fooled into thinking these are run-of-the-mill laminated archtops, when in fact they share MUCH more in common with their big brother, the L-5CES than with any ES-175.   Made from solid carved woods, ebony fingerboard and bridge base and an L-5 tailpiece these are really just smaller L-5's in terms of looks, feel and tone.
This rare example is in fine shape, with some mild play-wear.    The neck is straight, the frets in fantastic shape.   Finished in a very attractive light "Tobacco Burst" finish.
This guitar was gigged lightly and shows some minor pick and finger wear in the clear coat.  The original pick guard off-gassed long ago and rather than let it crumble, it is included in a plastic bag inside the case.  A custom cut vintage style five-ply black plastic guard has been installed as pictured.
This highly versatile instrument includes it's original hardshell case as pictured!
