Description
This vintage Japanese haori jacket would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day. The retro feel of the patterning suggests it might be from the 1950s or 1960s.Lovely desert colors - sand, deep red and a pale blue - and a design that suggests the landscape of the western US. Batik crackle everywhere adds a layer of design. Two spots on the back of the right sleeve, see photo, but still very wearable.
Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
All of the stitching is hidden (since it was hand-sewn) so technically these haori jackets are reversible. Sometimes the lining is as pretty as the outer jacket.
We do offer haori himo - the little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find on at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately. Choose one from the Haori Himo section of our store.
