Description

Vintage Ying Tai Co. Silk Brocade Jacket. The original owner of this jacket was the spouse of a Standard Oil Co. executive, stationed overseas for many years. In her travels to Hong Kong, Kowloon to be exact, she acquired this traditional red silk embroidered swing jacket. It is marked size 32, which would represent bust size. Actual measurements are provided below. A thorough description of the jacket must include these details:
-The jacket is not labeled "silk", however after researching online, we're confident it is silk.
- The lining is in quite good shape. The arm hole lining seam has been re-stitched by hand (see photos) but take nothing from the jacket. -The original label and size label are intact. There is a loop for hanging on a hook. There is some age discoloration.  -The cut of the jacket is "swing" style. It flares slightly when worn.
The exterior is in great vintage condition, with no wear or fraying visible anywhere.
-Decorative stitching consisting of parallel seams provide textural interest. They are probably reinforced with interface to preserve the jacket's shape.
- There are 3 highly decorative fronds, in perfect, working condition.
- The brocade design is primarily gold thread, highlighted with black thread outlines. It represents dogwoods in our opinion. Pleas study the photos carefully. As a vintage piece, probable from the 1960's, use your judgement in assessing condition.
